Nights Watch

Night’s Watch is an exciting new stallion prospect. With his power and presence, he is sure to excel in discipline, however his pedigree is filled with top level show jumpers! His sire is Kannan. Carrying blood from all the important jumping breeds of Europe. Voltaire, Furioso, Nimmerdor, Gotthard, Farn, Le Mexico, all great progenitors of modern jumper breeding, Kannan is clearly a product of his genes. A tall rangey Stallion, Kannan brings power, movement and scope. He is also noted for his style, balance, temperament and good mouth. He is incredibly fertile. Kannan is the 2011 WBFSH number 5 jumping stallion!!! And he is the WBFSH number 8 eventing stallion! No other stallion has ever made this achievement. This stallion has talent for days, however he is better known for his jumping style, balance and temperament. Like their father, his offspring exhibit style and balance at the jump, along with a good mouth and character.  Kannan’s sire Voltaire was an influential sire of show jumpers and dressage horses. Additionally, he competed successfully at the international level in show jumping. Voltaire, was by the influential Furioso II, a stallion whose offspring include over 200 state premium mares and at least 70 approved sons, who are stood across the world. Furioso II was full-brother to the French stallion Mexico (sire of Le Mexico, who has produced numerous Grand Prix show jumpers). Furioso II was also the sire of the Olympic gold medal winners Lutteur B and Pomone B. Voltaire’s dam, Gogo Moeve, was also the dam to such horses as Fandango R, PS Falkan and Petite Fleur. She was sired by the great Gotthard, a stallion who has made his mark in the Hanoverian breed. Voltaire produced numerous international-caliber horses during his lifetime. He is found in the pedigrees of 28 jumpers of the 2000-2001 World Breeding Federation for Sport Horse standings, was ranked 9th in the Federation’s top 50 sires for the years 1991-2000, and finished second in 1999 in the list of show jumping sires. Additionally, Voltaire had the most offspring at the 1996 Olympic Games that any other stallion. He is also found in the pedigree of one of the world’s greatest dressage horses, Valegro, as his great grandsire.

Night Watch’s dam is Gwenhwyvar who is by Cantos. Cantos his sire Contender is a top progenitor and sire of Montender and Checkmate. Then we see Goodtimes who bred many international showjumpers like: Obelix R, Kris, e.g.Cantos carries 46,5% thoroughbred blood; the stallions Abgar xx, Cottage Son xx, Ladykiller xx, Koridon xx, Millerole xx, Pericles xx, Rantzau xx, Rittersporn xx and Waldenser xx are part of it. Cantos comes from a very good dam line with mother Gabanta and grandmom Abanta who both jumped at the highest international level. Cantos himself had a successful career. As a young stallion he won the stallion competition 1.20m. and he won the ‘Best Young Stallion’ in Zwolle. At international level Cantos and Julia Kayser were 2nd in the Grand Prix in Zuidbroek and Linz. He won the Derby in Bathmen and was several times high placed; 5th and 6th in De Steeg, 5th and 7th in Leipzig, 7th and 9th in Neustadt-Dosse, e.g.Cantos passes blood and type on to his foals. They have a great jumping technique and a fantastic character. His breedingresults till so far are promising and Cantos is approved as well KWPN as NRPS ‘Keur’. His oldest offspring are doing well on international level. Gwenhwyvar’s dams sire is Indorado. Indorado had an impressive career winning two qualifiers for the Bundeschampionat as a young stallion, and was 10th in the finals. With Jur Vrieling he turned in many good performances at international level. Indorado is well-known for producing big, long lined horses with an unlimited amount of scope.
